Deforestation - Low Quality

Why Recycle Paper - Low Quality

Speech for the talk

A hearty good morning/afternoon to the teachers & students present today, I on behalf of the members of Heng Ee UNESCO ICT Pedagogy Project stand forward today to present a speech about paper recycling.

However, before I proceed, I would first like to introduce to you what this project is all about. Project “Greenesis”, christened by its members, was launched in March 2010. This project was tasked to us by UNESCO in order to fulfill various objectives such as to incorporate usage of ICT in the school community, promote awareness of paper recycling and to encourage paper recycling among students of this school. Basically speaking, we make you realize that the 3-point shots you make with crushed up paper balls in class can actually save a lot of resources.

If we pay closer attention to our daily lives we’d notice that the amount of paper waste we create every day can reach staggering numbers. From opening your mail to reading newspapers, the amount of recyclable paper is massive. Multiply this amount to the number of average families and you have a figure that could shake the world! Even if we ignore these figures, the fundamental responsibility of clearing up your own mess should be taken seriously and practiced. This determines not only the future of the welfare of our generations to come but also the outcome of our own fate and the earth’s lifespan.

I’m sure we all are aware that the production of fresh paper causes acres of trees to be wiped out. Already the view of the Earth today is barely alike from the view 10 or 20 years earlier. If the destruction of our living green does not cease, we will soon have New York City multiplied by a thousand, engulfing the world’s greenery into a grey solid sphere of concrete – a grey jungle no one will enjoy or admire. So, just imagine if thousands of acres of paper waste goes into recycling, the amount of trees it can save, not to mention the decrease in the percentage of pollution, Greenhouse effects, and the extinction of one enemy that the world would be joyous about – the Carbon Footprint, all, on a global scale.

Therefore, we can conclude that recycling our paper waste can not only save trees, but eliminate all global threats that the world faces such as the greenhouse gasses, and carbon footprints. Saving trees also can lead to the resurrection of the balance of nature, the beautiful flora & fauna that we have sent almost to the brink of extinction, it will all be saved. The temperature globally will be reduced as the greenhouse gasses will be reduced, thus making a cooler environment to live in compared to the sauna stuffiness we have to go through everyday in class – you can loose weight by just sitting down! So think about it, start recycling now, or regret later, your choice, your life, our world. RECYCLE.

Thank you, and have a pleasant day. But before you leave, there are a couple of slides that the UNESCO team would like to show you.
